Agenda

    1. Decide on NGO
    2. Game Plan as a Group
    3. Individual updates

Outcomes

NGO selection for group project:

 NGO Chosen: SUKA Society

Reason: We chose SUKA Society because it focuses on one of the most urgent and underrepresented issues in Malaysia which are protecting and empowering vulnerable children, especially indigenous communities, trafficked victims, and unaccompanied minors

Game plan as a group:

We are currently in the process of finalizing our direction, but we have collectively decided to focus on SUKA Society as our chosen NGO. We are still deciding on unifying theme that best reflect SUKA Society. Plus, we are brainstorming the type of product or campaign we want to create that can help raise awareness, encourage support, or amplify SUKA’s existing work.

Individual Updates

Sarah Qistina Wright (0139173)

Short reflection on NGO chosen:

·       I agree with choosing SUKA society as our NGO as I believe that children deserve to be protected, especially those that are trafficked. SUKA society also aims to give those from marginalised communities a better chance in life

Game plan for ideation stage:

·       I plan to research more about the organisation and think up of a product.

Aimie Atma Binti Basirin (0139018)

Short reflection on NGO chosen:

·       I agree with choosing SUKA Society because I feel it’s different from a lot of other group’s NGOs.

·       I also think it’s easier to create a message or product around real issues like education and child safety because people can relate to them emotionally.

Game plan for ideation stage:

·       I’m planning to come up with a theme that fits SUKA Society also something simple, convincing, and easy for the audience to understand and relate to.

·       I also want to suggest ideas for a product we can create something that’s not too complicated but still effective

Ethan Tan Wei Jie (0139155)

Short reflection on NGO chosen:

·       The decision to choose SUKA Society as our NGO is something i agree with. Supporting and educating underprivileged children is a meaningful and impactful cause. I believe that the work SUKA Society does can truly help shape a better future for these children, giving them hope and opportunities.

Game plan for ideation stage:

·       I will start by doing more in-depth research on SUKA Society and its background, mission, and recent initiatives.

Quek Rou Yun (0138600)

Short reflection on NGO chosen:

·       I agree that we choose SUKA society for our NGO.  It is because they have programs that indirectly help the B40 community. In Malaysia, "B40" refers to the Bottom 40% of household incomes, representing the lowest income group. Specifically, households earning below RM5249 per month. These families, especially those with multiple children, often struggle to meet basic living needs and cannot afford education expenses, resulting in their children's educational needs being overlooked. So, they particularly focusing on children's education and well-being within marginalized communities.

Game plan for ideation stage:

·       Searching for more information about SUKA society

·       Thinking about the product that we want to sell

Wong Anna (0138488)

Short reflection on NGO chosen:

·       I chose SUKA Society as our NGO because I am inspired by their work in protecting and empowering vulnerable children and communities in Malaysia. Their focus on human rights, child protection, and education aligns with my personal values and interest in social justice. I believe studying SUKA Society will help me understand how non-governmental organizations make a positive impact in society, especially in areas that are often overlooked. Additionally, their real-life programs, such as helping stateless children and supporting survivors of trafficking, make the research more meaningful and relevant to current social issues.

Game plan for ideation stage:

·       My plan is to start by gaining more information form their social media and news articles that I didn't research before.

·       I will also start thinking about how we can raise money to support the NGO chosen and the beneficiaries such as doing simple fundraising activities.

Chong Jun Kit (0138491)

Short reflection on NGO chosen:

·       I agree with choosing SUKA society as our NGO. I think that helping and educating the less fortunate children is a noble cause. I hope that their efforts will give the children a better future.

Game plan for ideation stage:

·       Doing more research about SUKA society

Kong Li Yen (0139172)

Short reflection on NGO chosen:

·       I agree that we choose SUKA society for our NGO. It is because I think they have helped many underage children, such as refugees, victims of human trafficking, indigenous children, and detained youths.

·       They also work as teachers in villages, bringing the opportunity of education to children in these communities, giving them hope and a chance for a better future. That’s why I hope more children will have their lives changed because of their help in the future.

Game plan for ideation stage:

·       I am planning to do more research about SUKA society.

·       Think idea about the products we sell on the booth, and sketch the products.

·       Think about the booth concept, and sketch a booth design.
