Moving forward, our group will engage in thorough discussions to review and evaluate the various NGO options presented by each member. Through collective consideration, we will decide on the most suitable NGO to focus on for our project.

NGO Chosen: Kechara Soup Kitchen

Why this NGO?

  • I believe that the homeless and the poor deserve basic needs such as food and medical checkups, regardless of their social status.

What is your progress?

  • I'm still working on my research about the organisation

What are you planning to do next for your research? 

  • I'll do through research and may reach out to the organization if needed

Aimie Atma Binti Basirin (0139018)

NGO Chosen: PAWS (PAWS Animal Welfare Society) Malaysia

Why this NGO?

  • I chose PAWS because the organization aligns with my personal interest in animals. I believe it is crucial to protect and save animals, especially those that are abandoned or mistreated.

What is your progress:

  • I have completed some required components about the NGO which are Introduction, Evolution Journey, Mission and Vision, as well as Latest Creative Campaigns.

What are you planning to do next for your research? 

  • Complete the remaining sections: Core Cause and SDG, SWOT Analysis, and Individual Reflection.

  • Find more supporting data and case examples to strengthen the analysis.

  • Review and organize the citations and references list.

Ethan Tan Wei Jie (0139155)

NGO Chosen: EcoKnights

Why this NGO?

  • I chose EcoKnights because I care about the environment and support their mission to promote sustainability and conservation in Malaysia.

Progress So Far:

  • I've started researching using their website and a featured article from Augustman. I'm organizing notes using the Kipling Method.

Next Steps:

  • I plan to complete the SWOT analysis, find recent campaigns, and begin writing the blog post with APA citations and a personal reflection.

NGO Chosen: Malaysian AIDS Council (MAC)

Why this NGO?

  • I have always wanted to help marginalized communities, and this organization has consistently demonstrated that commitment.

Where is your progress now?

  • Start research their website.

  • Learning about Malaysian AIDS Council (MAC) focus on, their vision and mission.

What are you planning to do next for your research?

  • I plan to research more in their website and other sources such as news article.

  • Learn about their latest campaigns and impact.

  • Assess the organization's current situation within its environment.

NGO Chosen: SUKA Society

Why this NGO?

  • I chose SUKA Society because it is a well-known NGO in Malaysia that helps children. 

  • They focus on children's rights, like stopping child abuse and helping kids get an education.

What is your progress?

  • I have found basic information on SUKA Society’s goals and background, and I am currently researching their journey and key events in more detail.

What are you planning to do next for your research?

  • I will conduct an analysis of SUKA Society's latest events and evaluate the outcomes of their events from past two years.

Chong Jun Kit (0138491)

NGO Chosen: Badan Warisan Malaysia

Why this NGO?

  • I choose this NGO because when choosing NGO, most people will choose NGO related to nature, medicine, housing or rights. Cultural heritage NGO like Badan Warisan Malaysia who preserve the past is often overlooked in favour of the other NGO because those type of NGO are more popular.

My Progress:

  • I have finished 5 questions and had gather most of the readily available information about Badan Warisan Malaysia.

What I am planning:

  • I will gather more information about Badan Warisan Malaysia and complete the rest of the questions with the information gathered.

Kong Li Yen (0139172)

NGO Chosen: Tenaganita

Why this NGO?

  •  I chose Tenaganita because their focus on human rights and non-profit organisation dedicated in helping, building and protecting migrants, refugees, women and children from exploitation, discrimination, slavery and human trafficking.

Progress:

  • I had done research their own website about this Tenaganita and understand what their mission is doing this Tenaganita.

Next Steps:

  • I am planning to do more research about them by watching their previous interview and news.

  • Learn about their recent activities and future directions.

  Who is Kechara Soup Kitchen? Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK) is a non-for-profit and non-governmental organisation that has been serving non marginalized groups in Malaysia for over 17 years and has catered to the homeless, urban poor and Orang Asli populations (Kechara Soup Kitchen, n.d).  When was the NGO founded? The NGO was founded in 2008 in hopes to provide basic needs such as food, medical services and welfare aid to these groups in order to give them a better life. (Same source as Question 1)  What programmes do they have? Kechara Soup Kitchen carries out 3 programmes - food bank, empowerment and soup kitchen. Each of these programmes have different purposes to help those in need.
