    The threat of Badan Warisan Malaysia is the ever-evolving built environment of modern-day Malaysia and the unawareness of the younger generations towards the old and historically significant buildings.

Badan Warisan Malaysia is the leading national heritage NGO that is established in 1983. Badan Warisan Malaysia aims to help restore the old built heritage left by our ancestors and educate the future generations on the importance of preserving Malaysia’s built heritage. They have achieved multiple successful restoration of traditional Malay timber houses and various religious building.


Reflection:

Through writing this, I have learnt a lot about Badan Warisan Malaysia and the state that our traditional buildings are in. I have also realised that there are not many non-governmental organisations in Malaysia that focuses on preserving and restoring these historical heritages. I hope that the efforts of Badan Warisan Malaysia and other organisations like them can keep preserving the built heritage left by our ancestors as these buildings are a symbol of Malaysia’s identity and culture.
